And Baby Makes Three… Natural help for first time parents.

by  R.
I have friends that have recently become new parents, while having a baby can be one of the most joyous experiences in a couple’s life, many times I have heard, “I forgot to read about what happens after the baby comes.”
One of the biggest questions I hear from new parents is, “when will my baby sleep through the night?” Newborns sleep on average about 16 hours a day, but the problem is, it is usually stretched out into 2 hour segments. When your baby reaches 6 months these chunks of time will start to come together more easily and soon he/she will be sleeping more like 6 to 9 hours at night.
A great way to help ensure your instilling good sleep patterns in your growing child is to practice doing simple things now while they are still a newborn. When waking up for nightly feedings, it is important to use a soft voice and dim lighting so as not to wake up your baby fully. Massaging your baby is another helpful way to encourage a good night’s sleep. Therapeutic grade almond oil is a natural moisturizing oil that is completely safe and gentle for the sensitive skin of newborns. Use the oil and massage your baby right before bed, making sure not to leave out little hands and feet!
Blissful Baby Aromatic Massage Oil is a soothing, relaxing massage oil for babies over 12 weeks of age.
Another good question is, “what do I need?” As a first time parent, you may be going up and down the aisles at the market asking yourself what you really need for your baby. While much of this knowledge is trial and error, there are a lot of things that you’ll need to have on hand when your baby has his/her first night at home.
Some essentials are common sense, like diapers, nipples, bottles, onesies, swaddling blankets, and a bassinet, other things like prune juice for constipation, cotton balls and ointment for healing belly buttons, may slip new parent’s mind. Did you know for example that diluting 2 ounces of prune juice in water can help constipation in newborns? Keep in mind that although constipation is a very common ailment among newborns it is very uncomfortable nonetheless. Keeping these essential items on hand will help you when fussy babies are awake at night and need some help.
One of the most important things for all parents is to make sure their baby is healthy and happy, but childbirth is physically and emotionally traumatic in itself for newborns. Flower Essences like Thyme flower essence and Rosemary flower essence can help quell the agitation your baby may feel when brought into the world.
